The long-awaited new season of Outlander has a premiere date—but patience is still required. Starz has split the 16-episode season into two parts; the first eight episodes begin airing in June, but the second half won’t arrive until 2024.

At the end of the show’s last season, executive producer Maril Davis told Entertainment Weekly of what’s coming next: “It’s such a huge season. We almost can’t wrap our arms around it. It’s not only the extra four episodes, it’s just, the Revolution is here. It’s going to be really exciting.” This must be promising for fans, some of whom were not thrilled with how things wrapped up in season six.
The time-travel romance has been on the air since 2014, and stars Caitríona Balfe and Sam Heughan as Claire and Jamie, star-crossed and frequently troubled lovers who closed out the last season in quite a pickle. New characters for this season include a grown-up William Ransom (Charles Vandervaart), and Quaker siblings Rachel Hunter (Izzy Meikle-Small), and Denzell Hunter (Joey Phillips).
In January, Starz announced that the eighth season of Outlander would be its last—but also that Blood of My Blood, a prequel series about Jamie Fraser’s parents, is officially coming. Like the main series, it’s adapted from the work of author Diana Gabaldon.
Outlander‘s new season premieres June 16th on Starz.
